November 4, 2014 Surgery

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone :) I hope all the post op people are doing well. I know I am happy to be on the post-op side now! I have had a very easy time of it since surgery on 11/04/14. I hope all of you that had surgery on the 4th or around there will post your experiences here also. It would be nice to have a list of people done on that day or close to it.

I am still on soft foods. I have another appointment with my surgeon's office on Friday and I hope they will let me start Stage 3 foods. I have stuck religiously to the foods on my allowed list. I have not really had any hunger. I love eating these small portions :) I get my Water, Protein and Vitamins in every day. I am no longer on meds for Type 2 Diabetes. Today after work I will take my one month pics and measurements. I have lost 16.8 pounds so far which I am happy with. Before surgery I never would have lost this much in a month (except the times I tried HCG but that weight always came back immediately after stopping the injections).

I asked my husband last night if he thought the local pizza Hut was going bankrupt yet as we had not ordered from them in over 5 weeks. He just laughed at me lol

How are the rest of you doing?

Always great to see a story like yours. I was sleeved on the 12th and including pre op I'm down a total of 36 lbs. My appt is next Friday and I hope we can still stick to the script. Have a great day!

@@ejd1024 you are doing awesome! Sticking to the script right now is easy but I know it won't always be this way. Congratulations on your weight loss.

I was sleeved on the 5th of November. Doing great here too! Started week 2 (of 8) of soft foods. Hanging in there. Nothing has really bothered me or my sleeve; unless I've eaten way too fast or my bites were too big. I'm down 18 pounds since surgery and 30 pounds since my highest weight at the start of my journey in March. I'm hoping for another 10-12 pounds by Christmas but if it doesn't happen, I won't cry about it. Every little bit counts and I'm counting my blessings.

Only issue I'm having is I'm getting a bit dehydrated. Trying to keep my Water going but with the timeframe of not drinking before/during/after eating... it's screwing up my Water consumption. I'm working on that though. OH! And this. I was a huge water drinker for years. I enjoyed a lovely ice cold glass of water before surgery. Now? I don't like plain water. I need Crystal Light in it. I'm working through that too. I don't want to get dependant on water flavoring. I want to enjoy an ice cold, clear glass of water again.

@@JenWith congratulations on your weight loss so far :) I also find it easier to drink my Water if I add Crystal Light to it. I put a free app on my phone called Waterlogged that helps me keep track of my daily Water intake. I am happy to hear that you are doing well otherwise!

I am in the 11-4 club as well! I'm so happy to be here. I seem to be hanging on to the nausea :( I should have come off the purée foods today adding in soft cooked and a few other items however I've been so sick I didn't want to push my luck. Journey started at 348 and progressed to surgery at 312. Moving right along to my 2 week post op of 295 I them progressed to the scale reading 288 today on my one month mark. 24lbs in 30 days! That's equal to .000555555556 lbs per min :) I'm feeling good except when I attempt to eat anything. I am still unable to get in all my Protein and liquids for the day. I am going to my first support group meeting Monday night. My surgeon and Nut provide such a well rounded support system and head up the support meetings. They are truley their for the patience.

I wore 26-28 pants and now everything is super baggy. However I happen to have my fav jeans that I hadnt worn for 3 1/2 years that now fit with no effort. I was size 4-5x shirt and they are now my sleep shirts as I'm in 1-2x shirts. I had to down size the bra and panties before they just fell off. I am however in the same size socks but the shoes are even a bit loose now. Yahoo for the socks. :)

Always find the silver linning of your day and be thankful. You could have more and yet in the same hand you could have so much less.

Happy day to everyone!

Hugs

@@athena3127 congratulations on your ".000555555556 lbs per min" loss!!! That actually made me smile that you figured that out lol I am sorry you are still dealing with nausea. Are you taking any anti-nausea meds? I sometimes get a slightly upset stomach after my Protein shakes - I wonder if I could be slightly lactose intolerant since surgery....IDK. I just keep doing what they tell me and trying my best every day. I am so happy to be doing this. I had my second check up this morning and things are going so well. I hope things get back to normal for you soon.

I hope we can all keep in touch!

My surgeon has been outstanding. And yes I do have both zofran and phenagrin from the dr as well as a script to reduce tummy acid. I think I'm just in a learning curve lol. I got to start many new things on Thursday. So far a soft scrambled egg is just simply amazing!

Athena My first egg after surgery was the best egg I ever ate! This is just an incredible time in our lives. I am so happy I had this done. I was sleeved 5 weeks ago today and I am down 20 lbs! I hardly ever feel hungry and I am doing well with eating only the foods that are allowed.

I hope everyone else is doing awesome. If you feel like bragging about your weight loss I would love to hear what you have lost!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
