Cold liquid okay?

Ive seen many people say they love popcicles and cold drinks post op. But my nurse told me not to cause the cold temp makes your stomach contract and you dont want that while its healing. In my head it would seem the cold would help swelling of the stomach. And thoughts?

    I'm allowed to eat popcicles they gave me one 3rd day at the hospital I also thought it would help with swelling hmm I drink icy cold water I love it helps me drink more water
