Heartburn?

I am 1 week post-op and today I have experienced a lot of heartburn. I called my nurse and she said that It is temporary. She said to take an OTC med, like Tums. Has anyone else had this problem? Why is it happening when all I am eating is pureed foods? What is the best way to handle this irritating problem? Thanks

I was on a generic which wasn't helping and my doctor switched me to nexium. You might want to ask your doctor for a prescription.

Isn't Nexium a pill? I thought we could only have chewable or liquid meds.

I've been taking omeprazole for months and was told to continue my pill meds after surgery. Certain pills are harder one the stomach than others. Never heard we couldn't take pills. However, pain meds have been in liquid form. Good luck.
