Melissa's story

Lap band surgery. I have my first consultation tomorrow and I pretty much know what to expect as I have doing my own research into this. I am a 46 yr old woman who has had a child late in life at 38. I struggled with my weight a lot but never to the extent that it is now. I gained a lot of weight with the pregnancy and 6 months after my son was born I had my first back surgery. It really took a toll on my body and losing weight was practically impossible. Exercise was very difficult and the next year I had a second back surgery. I am hoping that this lap band surgery will start me on the path to freedom. Freedom from pain and freedom from this weight that is taking over my body. I go tomorrow' for my first consultation and I am on Medicaid. I was unaware for a long time that Medicaid would even cover this. I was shocked and happy at the same time when I found out that they would. Wish me luck.
