Did anyone have to get a EGD done to see if they had a hiatal hernia? Did it go ok?

Almost all sleeve patients have to have this done....

I didn't have it done, but when he did the sleeve, he saw a small one and fixed it.

I guess my question really is does the EGD hurt?

No, it doesn't hurt. You are put to sleep, really nice nap, wake up and it's over!

no after pain either, once you wake up. i had no issue, and i was really nervous about it as well. you can relax about this one.

I had terrible acid reflux. My Dr did the EGD to see my anatomy before "cutting" as well as to check for a hernia. Since I was cash pay, my insurance covered the hernia repair and I paid the rest myself. It was very quick and painless. It gave me some peace of mind that my Dr was able to take a look at my anatomy and let me know there was a chance to help my reflux as well.

I was told by my doctors nurse practitioner that most obese individuals usually have hiatal hernias.
