I agree with the above - the acids in the caffeine can be damaging to your new tummy. I was cleared for real coffee at my 6 week post-op visit. I'm glad I had to be caffeine free prior to surgery -

Getting adequate liquid intake post-surgery can be difficult for some for a few weeks. Because caffeine is a diuretic, you increase the risk for dehydration, which can land you in the emergency room.
