Surgery Friday having horrible muscle spasms

I'm on a clear liquid diet. My surgery is October tenth. The last few days my whole body is one big muscle spasm.

@@twztdzsgrl Give your doctor a call. I find it hard to believe that you are on a clear liquid diet for more then a couple of days. Your body needs Protein and other Vitamins and minerals, I had to be on a 2 week liquid diet but not all clear fluids.

Give them a call and ask them for an eating plan and let them know what's going on with you and seek their advice.

I agree. 2 weeks is a LONG time to be on a clear liquid diet.

That's too long on a clear liquid diet, in my opinion. I don't know of anyone doing a "clear" longer then 3 days since I joined Bariatric Pal. Are you sure it's clear not just a "liquid"diet? But perhaps there is a good reason why your doctor is doing it this way. I know I may be acting a little pushy but please double check with your doctor.

The spams are probably from a ketoacidosis type reaction. It happens when too drastric of a no carb diet is applied. Funny enough everyone in this board that has posted this spasm/cramps condition, their NUTs/doctors have said to increase Water intake. Please contact your doctor first of course, I am not a doctor I am just reporting what I have read here.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

your body is out of balance. and seriously so. all your water based vitamins have been washed out of your system and that includes potassium. potassium high or low can and will cause your muscles to spasm. you need to call your doctor now. even if it's not office hours. drink some vitamin water. or g2. Gatorade. but call your doctor.

I'm on a two week liquid diet but I have 5 protein drinks a day. Everything else is clear liquids. I only cramped in my legs when I didn't drink enough water. Once I increased my water intake no more cramps.
