Does everyone have a drain after surgery?

This might seem like a silly question but... I have seen many posts about issues with incision at the "drain" site. Just wondering is having a drain a standard part of the rny surgery?

I had RNY and a drain while I was in the hospital (2days). Painful while in and some pain for the healing. Use a gauze pad over it while it is still healing.

I had RNY and I had a drain after surgery, but only while I was in the hospital. They pulled mine out when I was being discharged.
