African American vsgers!

  • Popular Post

Hey guys I saw a thread from 2011 that I wanted to continue. I love all of my vsgers but as we know african american women tend to carry weight differently. I would love to follow you ladies on your journey and for us all to support each other.

I was sleeved on September 5th so I'm a week out. I'm doing good so far and feeling better everyday. I stayed at the hospital 3 days mostly because they discovered my allergy to morphine while I was on the pump with a fever and my entire body on fire. But I'm home now and much better. I was just moved to the full liquids stage so I'm pretty happy considering that the liquids stage made me nauseous. I've lost 24 lbs since my surgery so any pain I have is over shadowed by my joy.

Looking forward to hearing from you ladies and seeing some progress pics!

Sleeved on the 3rd of August!! How long did the pain last on your left side...it hurts getting up and down!! But trying to walk as much as possible!!

The pain for me lasted a few days. I stopped pain killers once I got home bc it felt like soreness from doing crunches, and I just pushed thru it. Walking is good, just be careful with that. I hit 4 weeks on Tues coming, and suddenly this week, after NO pain, I'm feeling pain at my largest cut when I move. I've been told it's from healing, but the better I started feeling, the more I started doing. It's still major surgery and I'm beginning to think I may have started doing a little too much. But, I'm sure it depends on each person, the best to you! Hope your pain eases up soon!

Hey y'all!

I had my revision from a lapband to a sleeve on Monday.I agree with teitei636's description of the pain. When I was in the hospital, it felt like I had done too many stomach crunches. The gas pain that I'm feeling whether I'm drinking something or not feels like muscle spasms. Don't get me wrong, it hurts. But I think I was expecting to feel like I had been cut and that's not how it feels at all.

shrinkmepls, Dr Kim did my surgery 3 years ago. How did your visit with him go?

So happy I found this thread. I am going to my first appointment with dr. Holden of kim bariatrics this friday ! Good luck to everyone else !

It went good. But true results staff blew me away with there customer service and support. Plus it's cheaper out of pocket and I don't owe anything up front.

Awesome!! Shes a really nice doctor. She took out my gallbladder. So your appt is this upcoming Friday with her the 21st or you already had it last Friday?

For those of you who have a relaxer still and are worried about hair loss, I recently had a touch up and a color rinse and I've had no problems with hair loss. I was a little worried since I'm 4.5 months out and apparently that's the prime time for hair loss. Everyone is different of course, but I wanted to share my experience since hair is such a big issue!

We can still get relaxers?

Hi I was sleeved on 819/15 and down 15 pounds.

Congratulations!!!!

@@lachellove There's nothing that says you can't. However, I started shedding about 3 months out. It's worked out pretty well for me considering I had been natural for about little over a year. I couldn't take it anymore and got a relaxer. I've chosen to relax my hair about every 12 weeks or so and I'm wearing a sewn in weave. I am also careful not use a lot of heat. The shedding is there but not too bad so far.

I guess the answer to your question is that everyone is different. So try to figure out what is best for you. Hey, you may not even have shedding! Make sure you get your protein in and take your vitamins. I also take extra biotin.

You can still get relaxers, but sometimes your hair is more fragile after surgery, whether you are natural or relaxed. My hair has been fine so far, but I've been keeping a close eye on it.

thank you, I'm a little over a week post op I'm just taking my braids out. I want to keep it braided out of fear of shedding.

@@lachellove that sounds exactly like what I did. My thoughts are if I don't have to style is daily, that should reduce the possibility of more shedding. The best to you!
