When is safe to drive?

Hi. My sleeve was on July 31. My husband has been helping me since. On monday he has to go back to work and I need to take my daughter to pre-school. I'm feeling pretty good, a lil discomfort sometimes and still a lil swollen. When did you started driving? Thanks.

You need to get an OK from your doctor. Really...just call and ask him.

You have to be off all narcotics or sedating medication.

I drove myself home from the airport 3 days postop....5 hour drive. Never took any pain meds. Was back at work after 7 days which involves driving a 6 ton vehicle all day.

Hi check with your doctor but you should be off all meds for pain, I used a pillow between the seatbelt and my stomach and before you know it by day 6 I was driving again like a pro. Good luck.

I drove after 2 weeks. Before that any bumps in the road made me uncomfy and hurt. I could wear a seatbelt and drive properly so wait until you can get in/out of a car.

My doc (through Kaiser) said a week or whenever you're off pain meds--whichever comes first.
