Strength Training

I am three weeks post op. I have been walking since day one and will start soft foods tomorrow. I know I need to do some strength training. Does anyone have good advice on where to start with this?

Thanks for the help!

At about one month post-op I started working with a trainer. I've been lifting heavy ever since. But I should also say that I healed very clean, and when I started lifting, I had no pain or anything. My surgeon told me that after one month, I can do anything that doesn't cause pain. You should check with your surgeon for whatever she recommends.

I wasn't cleared until 4 weeks out and didn't start exercising until 6 weeks. Please take it easy and heal right now. I know it is exciting to lose weight and you want to lose it ASAP! Walking is plenty at 3 weeks out. After you have healed, you can accomplish a lot simply by using your own body weight. Push ups, planks, tricep dips, squats and lunges require no equipment and are highly effective. Bodybuilding.com has a great pictorial library of exercises you can do.
