How soon did you go back to work?

Hi all, I was just wondering when anyone got clearance to go back to work? I stand pretty much all 8 hours of the workday, bend, lift 10-15 lbs occasionally. I see the doc next Monday, but was wondering if it's unrealistic to go back sooner. I'm 2 weeks postop and feel fabulous, just a little weak (still on protein shakes and liquids until next Monday). TIA for your answers.

I went back after 2 weeks. I probably could've gone back after one week but I had already arranged for 2 weeks off so I took it anyway.

You probably don't want to push it too hard if you have a job where you are on your feet for most of your shift. Your body is still healing. Enjoy your time off; focus on using that time to heal and to get into your new, healthy eating routine. Good luck! :)

I'm on week 7 post-op and I'm still on work leave till next week. I'm a patient care tech so I do some heavy lifting. Now what I'm doing is building up a bit of strength and energy. Dr./Nut added vitamins to my diet, that's also supposed to help me with my energy levels.

Thanks! I am on vitamins already. I will go back after I see the doc on Monday. Thanks to all for replying

Hi I went back to work to work after 2 weeks but I could have went back after 1 week, my husband insisted on me not going back until I had my first check up with my surgeon and primary. Good luck.

I also took two weeks but could've gone back after one. For the first couple weeks I had a 10lb lifting restriction, followed by 20lbs from two to four weeks. I work in a bank which my doc considers a 'light duty' job. Jobs that are more strenuous they recommend 4-6 weeks, depending on your recovery and how much weight is involved in 'lifting'.
