How is our App treating you ?

Recently, some members volunteered to become part of a select group of BariatricPal members to test the new BariatricPal app for Android. I would like to thank those members for their willingness to help with this project. Your participation is invaluable as our team works to develop the best possible app.

Now that you have had a chance to use the app, I would like to ask you to ask for your feedback on it. I would very much appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to share your experiences with the app by posting to this forum. Please feel free to answer these questions and add any additional observations and suggestions for improvement that you can think of. Thank you!

  • Was the app easy to use?
  • How often did you use the app? How often did you use the app compared to logging on to BariatricPal’s website from a laptop or desktop computer?
  • Did you notice any technical problems with the app, such as having it crash?
  • Did you run across any other problems with the app?
  • Were you able to use the app to do everything you normally do on BariatricPal, such as posting to forums, uploading photos, and sending private messages to other members?
  • Do you have any suggestions on how the app could be improved?

Again, thank you for trying out the new app and letting me know what is good and bad about it. Your assistance allows us to make improvements that can benefit all BariatricPal members.

Correct, the new beta version is called BariatricPal Pro. That's the one we're looking for more feedback on (pretty pretty please!) We hope to enable groups with the next version we release.

I feel they both work well but I tend to still use the older one. I was trying go get the support groups to work on them but found out that neither app works for that.

I use the bariatric pal site on my Lap top computer ,tablet and Android ( NOT A SMART PHONE) and I use bariatric pro on my Android also they both seem to be pretty good , but sometimes , I forgot when it does it and can't think right now but it will Bariatric pro does crash some times , and as YOU(Alex) know I am sooooo not tech inclined Lol but they both seem to be pretty good , but I prefer the Bariatric pal as I am still wandering trying to post pics or attachments for pics I want to upload , it just takes me a while to figure out , I also notice people can put links to the sites of there pics and someday I will and hope I can do that, when I figure it I can copy , paste and post from either form of computers LOL, Thankyou ALex and TEAM.

I'm using an android tablet. The app sometimes freezes and I have to go online to post or view topics. Also, on both the app and website we need a quick weight update button instead of having to search through the surgery info. Overall, I like the cleaness of the app - not a lot of visual clutter - and hope the issues can be resolved.

I'm using bariatric pal pro on a Samsung Galaxy S4, and am repeatedly booted off if I try to click on a picture link, and also if I have an interruption (like an alarm, call, etc). Instead of getting back to whatever forum or post I was on I have to log back in and start from scratch. Annoying sometimes. Otherwise I'm getting a lot out of the forums and am thankful for the great advice and support out there. :-)

On the new app I attempted to update my status a couple days ago and it would not let me. I do more frequently use the website on computer as I find it easier. The new app does look very nice though, I'm all about being an early adopter. My phone is the Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

So far all is well for it with me. I use it on my Ipad mostly, and my desktop (Mac) but sometimes on my Iphone too.

Was the app easy to use? Yes

How often did you use the app? a couple times a day. How often did you use the app compared to logging on to BariatricPal’s website from a laptop or desktop computer? I log on using a desktop several times a day when taking a break or on a long phone call.

Did you notice any technical problems with the app, such as having it crash? Never before today - when my phone version of the app just now crashed. Bummer.

Did you run across any other problems with the app? Nope - it rocks!

Were you able to use the app to do everything you normally do on BariatricPal, such as posting to forums, uploading photos, and sending private messages to other members? I find it easy to use to do those things, but also hear from people struggling with private messages and such.

Do you have any suggestions on how the app could be improved? Yes – see below.

I think maybe the place where you update weight could be more intuitively located. I don't think of my weight loss progress as part of my surgery so much, but that's no big deal.

Also might the Search feature be improved to move the page directly to the instance of where the searched word occurs? I search and then despair of sorting through 69 pages of replies to find it!

Finally, on the app's main page the lower menu offers Forums, Current, Conversations, the Surgeons and More. I'd suggest replacing Surgeons with My updates or Subscribed or something -- since most of us only need to see the surgeons part for a very short time. Unless it’s a sponsorship thing for the site of course.

All told, great site. Thanks Alex!

I tried it out again today and I must say it's not loving me. I tried to read a response someone made on their status feed and it was not even en option. In the notification screen it does not take you to the post that you are being notified about, and when I went to the general forum to see what's new this happened: picture attached. I was scrolling down to read the other titles.

I have a Samsung 5 and can't update anything on my profile, my picture, weight, nothing. I have to do it all on my computer. Also, am frequently kicked off.

We hope to have a new app update released at some point next week.

Hi, I have an iphone 4s on the latest ios. The app has been great until I took the app update. Immediately I began to experience freezing in the app and crashes, I mean as in just about every post. Any similar reports? I am having to use it via safari now. Jillcriswell@consolidated.net

I tried pro and didn't like it so went back to the original black colored one. It seems to have updated and lost functionality!

My #1 complaint is that you can't view profile or signatures and that has so much info for newbies!!! I know why phone apps limit display but.. disappointing and I am tired of posting basic information that people used to just be able to see on profile and signature.
