Horrible gastric issues from pre surgery antibiotics

Has anyone else had issues with the pre surgery antibiotic making them ill. I have been up most of the night and report for surgery at 9:00. I don't think I can face 5 more days of the diarrhea. I am going to talk with the nurses before surgery. On top of being nervous this has put me in a very negative place in my head. VERY Frustrated! Sorry to vent.

Hopefully it is just nerves. Bless you today.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Antibiotics can have that effect unfortunately, esp on top of nerves. I'm looking at an October surgery and just got my EGD results back. I was super surprised to find out that I'm positive for H. Pylori and chronic active gastritis. I have absolutely no symptoms though, other than mild pernicious anemia that just requires a monthly vitamin B12 shot, which I just learned can be caused by H. Pylori.

Did you have symptoms before the antibiotics? My appt with my doctor is Friday and I'm wondering if I'll need to do the antibiotics since I'm pretty asymptomatic.

Check into c-diff which you can get from antibiotics or h- pylori which can cause your symptoms. Hope its not anything but reaction to your meds. Good luck.
