esophogis spasms

i am 10 post band surgery. everything was going great, including the esophagram. now that i stopped taking the pain medication, my esophagus tightens in a spasm and i find this random pain quite annoying. it can happen any time of day or circumstance. any one else experiencing this or have advice?

I don't experience spasms on a regular basis. in fact I can only remember one. it was a doozy about 4 mos after surgery. after all day of pain I finally drank hot tea with honey. I didn't drink per say just took little sips and I mean little. the spasm resolved when I took this approach. this is one problem I would bring up with your doctor. it maybe something entirely different than a spasm. and there might be something like medication to help. call your doctor.

thanks. i'll check with them on monday.

A "one-time" esophageal spasm can be overlooked. If it happens again, consult with your surgeon. Esophageal spasms are a sign of potential complications and should not be ignored. Best of luck to you on your WL journey!
