Relax be easy it should get better focus on recovery and not what you can't eat. I had those emotions before surgery but none now. I'm 5 days post op. you have to find other places to focus your attention. Read, window shop, movies, something other than what you think you've lost. Find new interests and new ways to spend time with your family outside of the dinner table. Don't be sad, I know it's hard, we all know. But you are on your way.

Sounds like me. At 10 days out, I have quite a few little emotional outbursts. Fewer every day though. I no longer feel the need to cry at the drop of a hat (now spilled milk is another story. That will always bring the tears) Once your hormones start settling and your body gets used to the massive invasion that was perpetrated on it, you should gradually slide back to normal.

(of course, my normal always included an outburst or two per week, so YMMV)

This is going to be an emotional time for you - your body just went thru major surgery, your body is burning fat which releases hormones, and if you're like most of us you haven't eaten much food in the past couple of weeks. Immediately after surgery I would go from low lows to high highs - it's perfectly normal.

Hang in there and be kind to your body. You will feel better in the new few days.

Congratulations on your surgery! Hope you can find some peace in what other posters here have said. Yes, it is VERY normal to feel like your emotions are going out of control right after surgery. Not everyone gets this (I sure did), but it is scary, especially if your emotions are usually pretty consistent. Just don't beat yourself up--the way you are feeling is not "your fault." If it continues this way for more than another week (or gets worse), please don't continue to suffer with this. Contact your surgeon or mental health professional on your bariatric team if you have one. Meanwhile, maybe just doing some simple relaxation techniques like an occasional 5 minutes of deep belly breathing throughout your day, or simple meditation might help settle down your mind & body.

Feel better soon.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
