According to my nutritionist, hair loss could be due to lack of protein in the diet. Since you're so far out, maybe you could reintroduce some protein shakes (if you don't already take them.) Also, like everyone else suggested, I heard Biotin or even prenatal vitamins are great for your hair! Good luck!

My hair was falling out in big clumps for a while. It started about 4 months post op and didn't let up until about 1 month ago (I am currently 10 months post-op). I kept taking my vitamins and biotin. I only noticed that my hair stopped falling out when I got a really good hair cut. My hair was very thick and long. Most people didn't notice the hair loss but I knew because of the amounts of hair on my hair brush after brushing and the hand-fulls that kept coming out when I showered. I did develop a thin spot in front that was very obvious to me. But, the haircut definitely helped...or perhaps it was about the time that my hair loss was going to stop on its own (?). My hair stylist did insist that the haircut helped to take weight off of my scalp and in turn would help reduce the amount of loss. I don't know...my hair is no longer coming out in huge amounts!

So it stopped at about 9 months? I have thick med/long hair and it's shedding when dry and handfuls when wet. I've been on biotin for 5 months (started preop). Obviously it's done nothing. But my nails are awesome!!!!! I'm getting a haircut next week. Hoping to shape it up and maybe it'll help. Did you color your hair during the losing phase? I'm gonna be bummed if it gets worse and lasts another 6 months!

Mine is falling out everywhere! I lose it by the brush full, I have a huge bald spot on te back of my head and my hair is getting see through:-((( I have been taking 10000 mcg of biotin since before surgery multivitamin b12 and calcium....I used Jason shampoo and conditioner with biotin I had shots in the back of my head for 3 months! Nothing stopping this train! I don't want to be a skinny bald girl for sure!!! Just ordered hair infinity to try.

I have thin hair and am worried about it too and everything I read says make sure you get your protein in every day and at the higher level whenever possible. Like 80 instead of the 60
