So my surgeon hasn't said anything about liquid Vitamins (I honestly don't even know if they exist in this country), and I know my friend who had the surgery a week ago isn't taking any. How long after surgery until I can take pills? I'm very good about my vitamins, but other than my B12, they all need to be swallowed. Also, I don't wanna be off my Metformin too long.

I have to take Berocca from pre op and after, but not sure how long for. Not sure if this will help you or not! :-)

I had to google it, since I wasn't sure what Berocca is, but it's made by Bayer, so it's definitely available in Germany. It doesn't seem to be a full Multivitamin, but better than nothing! I also found some kids chewables, so between those two, I guess I should have my bases covered for a a little while.

But do people eventually get the OK to take pills again?

They gave me pills the day after I had no problem. I take chewable vitamins now with no problem. Plus a capsule of my normal mezzos.

My doctor told me to take chewable or liquid Vitamins up to 6 weeks after surgery. I found all I needed...a couple at my local pharmacy (CVS), but the best selection was on Amazon. They have everything from liquid to chewable vitamins. I am supposed to take Iron, Calcium, Vitamin d, B12, 2 multivitamins per day and potassium. Hope this helps!

I take Source of Life Liquid Gold multivitamin since surgery, recommended by a compound pharmacist. My lab reports have been excellent. My husband and I were taken off Metformin at surgery 5+ months ago. You can swallow your pills easily. Get a pill cutter for larger ones. A pharmacist or your doctor can tell you if a pill can be crushed. We had no trouble swallowing pills, but that big multivitamin was one I was not going to deal with.

I have swallowed pills since home from the hospital. I take:

Chewable Centrum

B12 Vitamin - Pill

Prilosec - capsule

Crestor - pill

Blood Pressure - Pill (this one is a little big, but I have been able to get it down)

I haven't had much problem other than occasionally I swallow the Water, but the pill stays in my mouth! Whoops! When that happens I have to wait a moment before trying again.

I know every doctor is different. As soon as I passed the leak test, my doc had me taking my synthroid tablet and most importantly, my Zoloft tablet before I was discharged from the hospital.

I wasn't cleared for capsule type Vitamins until I was a month or two out. I had to take chewables until then. I've read several posts about taking double the dose of children's chewable vitiamins. I'm not a medical professional but makes sense to me as a layperson.
