I had an abnormal EKG as part of my pre-op testing. Caught me complete off guard. I had to do a stress test 5 days before the procedure, and I was fine. The cardiologist nurse told me that sometimes with bariatric patients, there is too much excess tissue surrounding the heart that it interferes with the readings.

I hope your visit with the cardiologist goes well. Better to deal with any issues up front!

Be well…

I had a stress test in December and a few abnormalities showed y so I had to go to a cardiologist to get clearance. Just as the previous poster said, the cardiologist said that many of the tests come back abnormal because of the layers of fat and my particular cardiologist said he didn't think bariatric surgeons should do routine stress tests anyways for this very reason. After several KEGs, I got clearance and was sleeved on 3/31.
