So beyond frustrated

I am so frustrated right now it's unbelievable. So my surgeon wants me to get clearance from my cardiologist through a note or letter. My surgery is probably going to be end of April. So I call my cardiologist office and asked about it and the gal said that the doctor has to see you to do that. so I try and set up an appointment and they don't have any openings until end of May. This is the last thing I have to do to move forward to getting my date. I am so upset that this is my hold up now, when the cardio doc just saw me less than 6 months ago. I must mention, I don't really have any cardio problems as I was referred to see her because I thought I was having chest pains but turned out to be just panic pain. So not sure why I even need her permission.

Do you think I should call my surgeon's office and let them know and see if we can just not go through with the cardio doc thing?

Hi you can try and talk to them and see if he would give you one, but that is normal , I wish you luck.

I am going through the same thing, with just cause. I had to wait about 6 weeks to get in to see the cardiologist and he was the last thing I needed to do. I even have insurance approval already. I finally saw him yesterday and I now need a stress test, echo, had blood work done this morning even though the surgeon's office said I didn't need to do that ... they would take care it one week before surgery ... but my cardiologist wants it! I also have a couple other things the cardiologist wants that my surgeon wasn't even looking for including a "tune up" on my CPAP. I have tests stretched out over the next 5 weeks now.

I can't even get a date until all approvals are in place. So it's back to hurry up and wait. I wanted this done before summer, but I guess I'll take it whenever it comes.

Good luck to you.

I am so glad that my bariatric center did these on site.

My daughter is a pa. And she told me that many docs request unnecessary test cause they make more $$$$$$$$. I would call back your cardiologist that you are having surgery and you need a letter within the next week. Have them squeeze you in. Did u have cardio issues before that needs to be watched periodically.. Insist that they see you now .. Sometimes we have to be assertive to get what we want

Unfortunately I had the same dramatics! Hang in there and do your best to get everything in order. Ny original clearance was for January. Then team came up with all these extra tests. I got so discouraged. I was finally sleeved on March 13. Everythings just fine now. Hang in there. It's worth the wait

Call your cardio's office and tell them you are coming in and need to get a copy of all your records. When they ask why, simply tell them you need to provide them to a different Cardiologist in order to obtain the surgery clearance authorization sooner. That should get you an appointment with them sooner.

If it doesn't, follow thru with picking up the records and change Cardiologists. -_-

I agree with Recycled - and get those records. Especially if it says no cadiac issue, just the panic pain. That lone should be enough to satisfy the surgeon's office I'd think. Maybe get them to sign and date the records while you're there, just in case they think you had a subsequent issue you aren't copping to. There's SO many hoops and money-maker bits and time delays in this stuff, it makes me nuts. Hang in there and good luck!
