swimming

How soon after surgery can I swim? We live in the Las Vegas area and I will be having a summer surgery. If you have never been to Vegas in the summer, Let me tell you, it gets HOT! Swimming will be a big part of my exercise program in the beginning. Walking will have to be on the treadmill in the air conditioning. Lol

I couldn't take a bath until the doctor agreed that the incisions were completely healed ( almost a month).

With the stretching and the pulling of the abdominal area swimming involves, it might be longer than just a month. I would encourage you to ask your surgeon as each surgeon has his own preferences about things like that.

i am 2 week post and i ask the doctor to day at my appointment about swimming ,, he said best to wait till all scabs have healed and disapeared,,especally if its in a public pool

I think I was about 6 weeks out when I was okay'd for it.
