I'd wait to see what your surgeon wants done. The only test my surgeon wanted to do was an upper gi scope. No sleep test or anything. So it'd be a waste of money if you doc doesn't require it.

Your BMI is what it is. Besides you can't do any testing without an order anyway. Let your surgeon determine the best course of action. I'm assuming that you've been at your current weight (or more) for over a year right? If so, a pound or two lighter isn't going to make a difference. Your previous medical records should be able to document a BMI of 40 or more so don't sweat it. People fluctuate all the time.... Your weight during your initial consult is what will be considered....Unless this is a recent spike. But if you've consistently been at 40 or above you should be good.

So so true I already put $ aside in a surgery savings account specifically for this; and just in case my jobs try to not give me temp disability. With my job I will Def need to stay out the max amount of time

Referrals and physician orders are completely different. I was referencing the orders you would need for the testing... Why rack up additional charges right now if you don't need to. Use the money to pay for any pre-op testing.

Just check with your insurance regarding reqrements. I'm in the same boat. BMI is 41.7 and I'm 5 feet tall. A matter of a few lbs can easily change your BMI. My carrier requires a weight each month for the 6 month program and looks at your starting and finishing weight. If you fall below a BMI of 40 at any point during the 6 months, they wont cover

I love him that's my problem now lol don't want to switch from him because of my insurance. His requirements are really based upon your insurance requirements, but Cardiologist, pulmonary, radiology to check gall stones and hernia, psych eval., nutritionist the nutritionist there is amazing love her personality! All in all great team!

just met Dr. Neff yesterday. Love him! The whole staff is great and so pleasant. the nutritionist is great as well. Unfortunately, insurance won't cover for a registered dietician. i did find a nutritionist who is a MD, so he is covered under insurance. I have Horizon NJ Health. Dr Neff told me within 3 months I will have a surgery date! Beyond excited and couldn't have picked a better doctor.
