Hi Georgians

I am having my surgery in Savannah Georgia August 17th. I live near Dublin Georgia. I am not nervous yet. I have lost 10 lbs on the liquid diet and still have 5 more days to go. I want to eat so bad....... I will keep in touch and let yall know of my progress.

Hello everyone! I live in Alpharetta, my surgery date is 8/20, I am self pay and getting it done by Dr. Johnson with Atlanta Bariatrics at Johns Creek Emory hospital. I am so excited and scared out of my mind, all at the same time!!!!

Hello, all! I'm not from Georgia, but live right on the line in Chattanooga, TN. My wife and I were both banded in Monterey, Mexico by Dr. Rumbaut in April of this year. We were self-pay as our insurance has an exclusion for the surgery. (which especially stinks since I work for BlueCross BlueShield of TN!!) But, we were both able to be banded for $19000 which was the same price for one of us to be banded locally by Dr. Ponce. So, for us it was a no-brainer. Things in Mexico were great, and the folks down there really helped to ease our fears. The surgery, recovery, and 1 fill since were all fine. I have lost 80 lbs, and Christy (my beautiful bride) has lost around 55. So far so good!

I just thought I'd chime in, since we are in the same region at least... Ya never can tell what one might learn from meeting their neighbors - especially those who are going through some of the same challenges and life changes.

Thanks for the "community support"!

Hi. I live about 20-25 minutes away from dalton myself.. I will be banded on Oct.2 by Dr Duncan in Atlanta. Congratulations on your surgery and hope you are doing great.

I was banded 08/23 by Dr. Scott Steinberg at Dekalb Medical Center. My insurance is BCBS. I started approval process in April and after I completed all of my appts and submitted the paperwork, it took 1 month for approval. Dr. Steinberg was shocked they approved the lap band so quickly. I went in for appt 08/13 and was asked when I wanted the surgery and I said "as quickly as possible". Thankfully, they had an opening for the next week (08/23). I did a 2 day liquid pre-op fast and now 4 days post op and see progress at least with the psychological aspect of wanting to eat. I haven't weighed yet and waiting on my 1st post op appt on Friday, 08/31. Surely having to comsume 540 calories a day for 3 weeks should lead to some loss!! Good to meet my fellow Georgians and I pray for each of our success!!!
