I've missed all my fellow Georgians on this site! After surgery I had to step away for lapband talk for while. I don't know why... maybe I just felt overwhelmed and needed to go solo on this first leg of the journey. I stopped weighing myself all the time and thinking about it all the time--then I started losing weight.

Anyway, I'm back now. It's good to see everybody again. I had my six month follow up with my surgeon and he seemed very pleased with my progress. My goals now are to get in shape physically- now that working out is soooo much easier and actually (slightly) fun.

Band-wise, I've had a few fills but generally I'm pretty loose and I like it that way. I have a serious fear of throwing up and I didn't want to be stuck ever so I basically decided that I would have to stop myself from eating the second I felt "full". I've been able to control myself without having to be stopped by the band, it's more of a reminder that I've had enough. That's been my approach. We all have to do what works for us, I guess.

Anyway, it's good to see you all again!! :)

Hello everyone!

I am a newbie, just cruising the forum and was delighted to see a GA group.

I have done all the MD visits and am anxiously awaiting the "okay". from insurance. My fingers are crossed. :cursing:

Hello everyone!

Hi Bimbabe,

I am glad you are on your way. Who is your doctor? My is Dr Daly at Northside.

Anyways this will be a journey but so far a great one.

My MD is Dr. Steinberg in Decatur.

One Day at a time.

My surgeon was JK Champion. Do you plan to go to the support group at Northside? I will be going in August. How are you doing with your food? I seem to be ok. The Realize website is really nice. I diary everything I eat. Did you doctor do the Realize band with you?

Lasthope,

Did you go to the meeting at Northside on 8/15/08? I ended up having a dental emergency and could not go. What did they talk about? I plan on going to the next one which is 9/11 I beleive.

I am so glad to see that this board is a little more active.

I need some Georgia buddies who understand!!!!

I'm Sandra. I live in Warner Robins. I am having surgery Sept 10th and my dr. is Titus Ducan.

Let's keep posting. I think it's great to know someone who is going through the same thing close by.

Hey SickNTired -- noticed your Go Vols! I'm a huge Vols fan myself. My surgeon is Dr. Champion in Marietta -- he does surgery at Northside. My insurance approval was sent in last week -- haven't heard anything yet. I'm guessing around October for my surgery as well. They haven't said a thing about an upper gi or ultrasound or anything for me...they said when the insurance approval was received, they'd schedule my surgery within a month! I just had emergency surgery on July 1 for a colon re-section due to diverticulitis -- so he wants at least 12 weeks between surgeries. Good luck to you! GO VOLS -- BEAT UCLA!!

GO VOLS -- BEAT UCLA!!

Hi BJ!!! I am SO jealous of your avatar; I obviously need to upgrade mine! Yours is putting me to shame!!!

Presently, my brother is working in Sydney Australia. He emailed me asking if I'd Tivo the game to burn a DVD to snail mail to him. Beat, beat UCLA!!!

OMG!! I have an appt. for GB ultrasound and UGI and Dr. Steinberg on 09/05 as well!
