For Just Us Guys

shangefan, The soups weren't too bad. I kept getting a variety of Campbell's soup. I really didn't get too tired, but I kept everything spread out. For example, around 7 am or 8 am I would have the MetRx MRP; around 10 am I would have a protein bar that has 20g of protein (Clif Builder's Bar); at noon I would have the soup; around 3 pm I would have another protein bar; between 5 pm and 6 pm I would have soup again. Before bed, if I felt hungry, or didn't get enough protein, I would make a shake with MetRx Ultramyosen Protein. (One other thing about protein, sometimes I'd mix it with non-fat milk or just water.) I supplemented the soup (depending upon the number of calories in the soup) with a serving of apple sauce and/or no-carb Jello; water, spiked with Crystal Light Hydration or Green Tea On-The-Go packets. There were times I ate a lot less than this b/c I wasn't hungry, but I thought I should try to get to 1,000 calories per day. Like most anything else, once you get used to the band, eating is not too hard. Every now and then I do miss chips and other type snacks, but when I put my smaller clothes on, I overcome that urge. Good luck to you!

One more thing, I was really concerned about losing the weight so fast. I'd rather lose it a bit more slowly, however, I am grateful that is did come off. I have to say the funniest thing is when I put on smaller the pants/shorts/jeansI notice that the waist is so much smaller than before and they are still loose! Or that I have lost so much of my fat behind that the cuffs drag on the floor; my inseam has changed. Also, I don't need to wear extra wide shoes. My total weight loss is 82 pounds to date. I stopped using the ticker b/c I kept screwing it up. One more thing, I didn't switch to solid food until recently. I mostly ate soups and protein meal replacements. This probably explains the initial weight loss as well as the slowing of my weight loss.

Yes, but I may have finally hit a plateau. I am also hitting weights a bit harder.

Anyone from Georgia ??

Fortunately, I'm past most complications. If I had a problem with the band, I would likely consult with my PCP and follow her direction. Give yourself some time. Once you get use to the band you'll rarely notice it! Best wishes!

I think most dr.s are OK. There is one in Albany, however, all all very expensive. The dr. in Albany charges around $17,000 and has only done about 400 operations. My dr. in Juarez Mexico had performed nearly 5,000 operations for $7,500. I had no complications.

Thanks for the info 2GoodDogs. My exercise routine: MWF 30 minutes on a recumbent bike plus weight training. TTH 45 minutes on the bike only. Diet: MetRx MRP for breakfast (sometimes a serving of oatmeal, with honey) Snack: Sugarfree Jello or Sugarfree Jello Pudding, sometimes a serving of applesause or some type of fruit Lunch: Something vegetarian plus protein or if I'm in a hurry I'll have a Clif Builder's Bar (20g protein) Dinner: Sometimes soup but usually whatever my wife cooks for the kids: I just have a smaller portion. Before bed: 20g to 40g MetRx protein. Sometimes Beverly International protein or Universal. Vitamin: Bariatric Advantage wafers. Water: Throughout the day and especially after protein. I sometimes feel that 80 pounds in 3 months may be too much, but on the other hand I'm glad it's gone!

I had my surgery on May 29, 2008 in Juarez, Mexico. It cost me $7,500 since my insurance company did not want to pay anything. I started out at 327 pounds. As of today I am 245. My goal is 185 pounds so I have about 40 to go. I have had no fills!

Anyone in South Georgia?

Hi folks! I'm in Thomasville, or T'ville for short. I was banded on May 29, 2008 in Juarez, Mexico. The procedure was not as expensive as local physicians. I have had no fills. Here is my progress to date: :tt2: I really haven't had any problems. I eat just about what I want, albeit in very small portions. I do start each day with 5-600 crunches, 30 or 45 minute bike ride, and weightlifting every other day. When I started I wore a size 56 suit. I had some old size 42 pants in the closet and now THEY are about 4 inches too big. I'll try to wait until I am closer to my goal before purchasing any clothes. Good luck to all!
15. I haven't posted in a while, but I feel fine and I am doing fine. Here is my progress to date: :tt2:
16. I was banded on May 29th by Dr. Rodriguez in Juarez, Mexico. So far, everything is goig OK. By the way, I paid for the surgery with my American Express and because of the exchange rate, I paid a little less than $7000 USD. I've lost a few pounds post surgery and I am on full liquids, although I tend to use more Clear Liquids. I really haven't been very hungry, but I stay on top of my Water intake.
