taste of food

When if ever will food start to taste normal again? I'm nearing my 3rd week post op, and some days food tastes bad enough that I don't want to eat at all. HELP!

It gets better, promise! Ur taste for some things will have changed forever (and your stomach will also let you know if it doesn't like a food any more). But over the next few weeks and months, things will change and you should get back to liking a wide range of food again. I couldn't bear avocados, which I loved pre-op. But I am past that and back eating them.

3 weeks out is tough, hang in there, it will get better :-)))

Do a search on this site for ketosis. It is quite common. Acetone begins to be secreted in your mouth and makes everything taste like a cat's rear end. Once you up your carbs, you will drop out of ketosis and food will taste "normal" again.

When I'm deep in ketosis lots of things taste like baking soda.
