water

I am 5 months post op. I am wondering if it is possible to drink too much water every day. I get at least 100oz or more a day. Is this ok or too much? Some mornings I wake up with swollen hands and arms and im wondering if it is from so much water.

Thanks for your help!

So....in a normal healthy body it's ALMOST impossible to drink too much Water. Your body uses what it needs and the rest gets filtered through (there are a few odd exceptions to this though and some people do have to limit their water intake). If you're retaining Fluid you need to hit up your healthcare providers and see what's up. Some people just hold more fluid, it is normal for them. Before anyone makes that determination they need to check you out and make sure there's nothing else going on!

You actually CAN overhydrate your body and cause a sodium deficiency. I doubt that's the case with only drinking about 100oz a day, but if you have a very low sodium diet, then it is possible. You do need sodium in your diet.

When can we eat pickles? How about lemons? I love them both!

Thanks for the responses everyone! I will do some moe research and ask the surgeon when I see him next month!

Heya

Suspect i am also having too much salt. It is my only indulgence i feel! Making the rigid rules a bit more bearable by adding salt and pepper to my food. Especially cottage cheese with cracker, it just becomes nice and edible then.

Hmm what is the drawback to too much salt??

I am getting enough liquid in i think, at least 2 liters.
