Hmmm that is so sad they told you that. The least they could have done was prepare you for it... Or maybe they're just ignorant... Either way that is awful

I am really worried about this postop issue... I have a big depression history and hide it. So i started taking 5htp to boost my serotonin and gingko biloba. Already was taking effexor. I sure hope i get through okay - doing whatever i can to prepare.

I have quite the history of depression too and was terrified about becoming uber depressed after surgery. I feel very blessed and actually feel much less depressed. So know it could go either way and try your best not to worry ( I know easier said than done lol)

I am going to my psych on the tenth in the mean time I am going to try and take a half a pill more see if it helps <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> this sucks and let me tell you guys I asked if this was going to be an issue from the beginning and all the drs said the same thing you should have no problems!!! I don't get it!!! Ugggh this sucks <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

I was just retreading this post and realized you're four days post op. I don't know- that was a really hard time for me too. Maybe with time it will get better but it is so awesome that you are staying on top of it and seeking help now

I was hoping that it is because I'm so early out and maybe everything is just out of wack!!! I'm just trying to take it easy and pray that everything will work out!!!!

I take anti depressants as well. As far as right after surgery I was really bad at taking my pills. Once I got through some surgery complications and took them regularly I felt much better. I have actually decreased the amount of Trazadone I take, as well as came off of Wellbutrin all together. I am about 4 1/2 months out just to give you an idea. Hang in there. :)

I know this is an old thread, but I'm wondering how your anti-depressant experiences have been. Have you found that extended-release, like Effexor XR, has worked ok. Or not?

I add a packet of Splenda to an applesauce cup. I buy a case of them at Sam's. Helps when my bitter meds are crushed and mixed in an ounce of the stuff twice a day.
