Well, the time is almost here! My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow at 11:30am! Im kind of freaking out lol. Im nervous and excited at the same time. I've never been under general anesthesia so i am a little nervous about that..But anywho, I had to do a one day liquid diet(today) and i thought it was going to be difficult but i guess since im so nervous im not even hungry! I have to force myself to drink a protein drink lol..

I kid you not when I went to the room I remember getting on the table, I think I said one thing and everything else is a blank lol all I remember was waking up. Good luck tomorrow:)you will be fine

Same here. I went into a little curtained area (like in the ER) where one by one everyone came in to introduce themselves and do their thing. The surgical nurse explained some things to me and verified my info (they verify a LOT - what you're there for and who you are). I got into my Johnnie, the anesthesiologist came in and explained his part of it to me, then he had me laughing while he did my IV's. The surgeon came in, I had no questions so we just talked for a bit. While all that is going on ask questions if you need to. When everyone was ready they wheeled me into the OR where I got onto the (very narrow) table. They strapped me down, I remember talking to the nurse and then... Nothing. I don't remember the recovery room, either. The next thing I remember is being in my room. Piece of cake! Good luck! :-)

Terry1118 and I had our surgery at the same place and everything was very similar. I don't remember being strapped down tho. I'm sure i was just don't remember it. The anesthesiologist said he was giving me oxygen through a mask in the operating room and I was out. Waking up is weird though cause you don't actually sleep. You don't achieve rem sleep so its not like sleeping at night. You have no sense that time has actually passed. It only feels like your out for a second and then your awake. Very strange but not scary at all.

I had the band out in May. They asked if I wanted something to relax me basically told them I was fine. Two hours late into the operating room at 3PM, got on the small table, they then gave me a shot through the IV to relax, still haven't figured that out, I was very calm. They put the oxygen mask on for a few minutes and then the anesthesiologist got a vial which was the drug that put me out and out I went. I woke up in recovery at 4 PM and it was on, ate ice chips, got dressed, went to the bathroom and was out the door into the car by 4:45 PM. When I had the band put in I didn't want to wake up, didn't have any problem this last time. The only thing that bothers me is what type of pain I'll wake up with. I've had a lot of surgeries and the only one that was extremely painful was breast reduction. Everything else was a piece of cake. My concern is the soreness that I'm still having from having the band removed and how much the new surgery will agravate it. It still has to be pretty tender. getting a little better but think that will be the area that bothers me most. Going to sleep is easy, waking up can be difficult because you like sleeping, then others wake right up like nothing happened. I think it is the anestestic that is given. And when you do wake up you will be loaded with pain medications. For some this surgery is easy for other a little more difficult. You all will be surprised once it is over. Don't think it is as bad as you are all thinking it will be.

Hello, I was wondering if this recent procedure you're talking about is just having the Lapland removed or was it band to rny? I say this because u said u got in the car shortly after waking up? How r u doing?

Tell the nurse you are reallt freaking out in the operating waiting room getting ready to flight or fight and they give you a IDK shot and then things are better you will tell a few jokes and wake up in a bed with the magic thumb pump. Good luck and when they tell you to get up and walok walk as far as you can as often as you can do it at night if you must. it will make you feel better. I walked after every pain med given every 4 hrs.

I've had a few surgeries. In all but two I was out before arrival into surgery, and both times that was on purpose. Last one was my appendix and as soon as they shot me up with la la juice, I was gone. Didn't make it past the curtain form the staging cubbie. You'll be amazed how easy it is.
