Constipation :(

I haven't...gone...since Thursday or Friday. I feel like I have to but I can't. I also am really tired and keep getting chills. I'm going to try a suppository tonight but if it doesn't work what else can I do? I'm worried I might have to go to the hospital :(

Try miralax. It helped me big time. May also want to ask your doc for a stool softener

Miralax to get you going....stool softners to keep you from having issues again. I take 2 stool softners every other day to just to keep from having issues.

Don't forget you are eating less...so less travels through.... but if you're like me I know when I am needing to "go"..!

I know we can use suppositories but if neither of those work I'd call the surgeon or go to the hospital before trying anything else. I'm worried its from dehydration.

I have terrible constipation too. I've taken miralax for the last three days and still nothing. Can we try anything else?

wow, sorry to hear that. Miralax usually works for me pretty quick (24 hours). Increase your Water and see if it helps. Miralax draws water from your colon to help flush the colon....so maybe you need more Fluid.

You are probably right in needing fluids. I've only been getting about 40 ounces a day. I definitely need to improve that. I feel like im always taking Vitamins, eating or drinking something.

We can occasionnally use milk of magnesia also...that helps me in a day usually. I have noticed that eating two or three greek yogurts a day helps to keep me going.

I eat two greek yogurts every day and a probiotic. I can't stand the taste of milk of magnesia so I'll just keep trying miralax. Maybe I need the water.

Call me the poo queen cause I have constant constipation since surgery which is a shock since I had ibs. Miralax, milk of mag, and dulcolax hasn't seemed to phase me. I take colace daily but still no real help. I've found some lower sugar prunes that don't taste hideous and I've started eating at least 2 of those a day. It's helped some.

I too have had major constipation issues since surgery on June 12. I saw my doctor Friday and talked to him about it. I am taking two stool softeners and miralax a day. That wasn't working so he said I could use suppositories, enemas, and/or magnesium citrate. I had a hard enough time getting the magnesium citrate down before surgery, so that has become my last resort. I have used the enemas and they really seem to help. You have to be careful with them though because it can lead to dehydration.

I think I am to that point. I had my surgery on june 12th too and the constipation has been horrible. What kind of stool softeners do u use? Im miserable and don't see the dr. Until july 11th.

He didn't specify a specific type, so I picked up the Walmart brand...it was a smaller tablet and easier to get down.
