just found out have to have gallbladder done before rny, just great!!!! i thought it could be done along with rny but was told that dr does not mix dirty and clean surgeries... what the hell does that mean?...tells me he wants more money!.. so now i guess i'm looking at an october date for rny

I was just the opposite of you I had RNY then 10 wks after that I had a major GB attack and had it removed. It all depends on the surgeon, "dirty" surgery means that if they are near a part of your body that they can nick a bowel that is not good or they don't want to chance it. Its better to be safe than sorry.

My doctor wouldn't remove mine either. I know I have gallstones. They found them two years ago when doing an x-ray when I complained of severe back pain. Then they sent me for a ultrasound. I had never had an attack so I wasn't worried. Then last august I had my first and only attack. The pain! It lasted about eight hours and most of that time was spent in the ER. I know I have to have mine out but I keep putting it off...

My doc didnt take mine out, but also puts me on a med for 3 months to prevent gallstones from rapid weight loss.

I got put on this for 6 months. The pills are HUGE!!!! I don't know how I'm gonna do this lol.

thanks for all the feedback, like i said i guess i'll just have to suck it up,and go through two surgeries just hope for no internal scars to screw up the RNY
