June surgeries!

Hey all! I looked around and couldn't find anything for June surgeries. I don't have my exact date yet, but it will be the 1st or 2nd week of June!! Sooo excited!! I had my lap band out on April 18th and they were supposed to do the bypass, but they weren't able to due to scar tissue. I saw my surgeon today and all should be a go for June! Yay!!!! RNY here I come!!!

SURGERY IS ONE WEEK FROM TODAY! I have to say that this morning I am not doing well. I have been doing the liquid diet for one week and have lost not an ounce. I have NEVER followed a diet more closely than I have this. I have stayed under 900 calories every day. Up to this point I had been following my fitness pal and have lost 33 pounds. I keep telling myself it has to break. But for the past two mornings I have actually been up. I actually could cry!

Thanks for the encouragement! I haven't walked as much as I should yet, so maybe that is part of it. I also need to move the scale or force myself not to get on it everyday. It's just so hard when you hear that others are losing so much more than you are since surgery. Thanks again.

I've been obsessing. Everyone keeps telling me that 13lbs in 2 weeks is awesome and I get that. I just really had a goal in my head that I would be able to get to before my 2 week post op appt and it looks like I'm not going to make it. I think I need to get off the stupid scale and get back to doing stuff. Honestly though at this point I haven't been able to get all my protein or fluids in daily and I believe that's the issue. Today I move to puree's, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, and soft cheese. I can't wait to put food in my mouth!

Take a deep breath and step away from the scale!!!! 33 pounds is huge, I'm sure your body is freaking out thinking you're starving it to death and is trying to hang on to every ounce. It will start again eventually, but it old be days or weeks. Stick with the diet and exercise program you've been given and you'll be fine. And get used to this, happens to almost everyone post op. at 1 month post-op I hit a wall. Eating 800 calories a day, walking 45 minutes 4-5 days a week and lost 2 pounds in a month...I was fit to be tied! I really really really recommend only weighing once a week or every other week though...those scales will make you crazy!!!!

Good luck to everyone going in today! I have my pre-op this afternoon.I have told a few friends/co-workers of my plan. They are all very supportive of me. I have been researching this since 1999 and have never followed through. My mom was never on board with the idea. She has finally come around and I think that is what I have been waiting on.

I agree with you! I made myself nuts with the scale when I was banded and now with my RNY I refuse to go down that path again. I had surgery last Wednesday and haven't weighed since the morning of. I didn't want the freak out from the water and gas gain afterwards and told myself I would wait a week then only once per week from there on. I refuse to let that scale dictate my life. I am following my plan and believe it will work even if slow it will work.

Me too!!! 6 days. Tick. Tock. Good luck!

Had my post op this morning. All is good. They said I'm losing better than average so far! My HW was 277, SW was 270.1 and at 12 days post op I'm 255.7! Woo!
