Hey everybody...

Today, was my third day banded..I have good. Trying to get used to the discomfort of getting in and out of bed or cars.

Yesterday was horrible. I was agitated, and cranky from lack of sleep, but I'm thankful that that's over.

Does anyone have any idea, when getting out of the bed feels normal?

It gets easier a week to 10 days, at least for me. Don't worry it doesn't stay uncomfortable for long. Hang in there and get rest. 3 days post op is still real fresh out of surgery. Big changes ahead for you. Congrats on becoming a bandster. Keep us posted. Take it easy, Kelley

I am 2 days post-op and getting in and out of the hospital bed was the most pain I experienced. At home I have a bed that sits up high so I knew there was no way I would be able to get in or out of it. I sleep in my recliner and it isn't all the bad.

I think I've been very lucky. My pain feels like a bad stomach ache with a little heartburn. And today, I feel even better. I still can't bend down but I can pretty much do everything else. I've been walking on my treadmill since we still have a lot of snow here.

Hang in there. I know it will get better.

Sharon

You'll be fine in a few days. I was able to get out of bed without pain on about day 5 or 6.

You can connect with other people just going through all this on the February 2007 Bandsters thread. See you there!

Welcome to bandland!!!!

I was banded on Tuesday (2/13) and last night I was able to sleep in my own bed (finally) and not the couch or recliner, and am able to get in and out of bed and in and out of the car with very minimal discomfort. I finally am feeling normal today, went shopping for about an hour and did and about 20 minutes of light walking. I also noticed I was able to drink alot more fluids as well. Just hang in their it will get better! :)

I am 6 days post-op and days 1,2,3 were tough as far as soreness goes but much better day 4 and much much better day 5 and 6. Still a bit sore but moving around and starting to feel great.

I am sure you'll feel better tomorrow.

I was banded on 2/14, and proudly went around telling everyone who would listen that I knew I would breeze through this surgery. The reason for this was the fact that I had a laproscopic choleycystectomy in November and it went amazingly well. Very little post op pain, no gas pain, able to move around as though I had no surgery. While other people I talked to had pain, gas, and a very sore abdomen.

Since in my mind, I felt that this must be not as invasive as the choley, I was smacked with discomfort ever since surgery.

Now, the pain is not a screaming pain on the one to ten scale, but I did feel as though I was kicked in the abdomen by a few mules! Never considered that I would have trouble moving in bed at night, and sitting up was rough. The gas pain remains, and at times, it shoots right up into my shoulder, making evey breath uncomfortable. My abdomen is very swollen, to the point of not being able to zip my pre surgery jeans, and I am very aware of the port.

To top it all off, I am hungry, and do not like the protien shakes. I have no energy, and am depressed about being so hungry.

My only hope is that one day, this too shall pass, and I need to stick with the proper diet to achieve my goals.

I am hoping that with the support of all the banders here, that I will find some of the strength I need!

So, good luck to you, I totally understand! :hungry:

Well, I am four days out and I am not having much pain in my abdomen just soreness. And I am puffy on my right side where my port is. I read that this should go down in about a month.

I am having horrible shoulder pain and can't seem to get rid of it... Any tips for this?

The pain in your shoulder is from the gas. Get moving! Walk, or rock in a rocking chair with a heating pad... That will go away, hang in there!

Hi...

Just wanted to give you support as so many have given to me.. I know it seems really tough, but keep your eyes on the prize. I trust and believe that the pain is temporary, but our new lives are a blessed treasure...

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
