Drinking from a straw

I can't remember when can we drink with a straw? Or is that not allowed ?

My surgeon strongly urges against using straws. He says you can take in too much liquid and he has seen some get terrible gi distress from the air sucked in with the straw. So far I don't miss them but I am also only 7 1/2 weeks out. I am sure down the road I may try them but I have enough problems with gas don't want to add unwanted air to my pouch.

Mine said see how it plays out - some get gas and some don't from straws
