I had to do the liquid diet before my band surgery for 10 days and it was tough but I knew I had to do it because my surgeon said if I cheated at all he would know and would not complete the surgery. I have a new doctor that will be removing my band and revising to the gastric bypass on April 8 and said there is no need for a pre op diet out the liquid diet. I an doing a pre op diet on my own right now and will do the liquid diet anyway because it shrinks your liver to give the doctor more room to work. Also if the knick your liver because it's in the way, you can die. To each his own I guess and I know the importance of this and that out helps you prepare for what's about to happen to you so I will be doing this anyways.
