Gym after surgery

I had cancelled my gym membership mix January because with my odd work schedule I was never able to go. Well, wouldn't you know that 2 weeks later they changed my schedule. So now I'm on normal hours, 9-6. I signed back up the other day. But how long after surgery should I wait before I start going to the gym? I know at first I'll only be able to do the treadmill and maybe the elliptical. I'll definitely wait awhile before I start pounding weights LOL. But is 2-3 weeks post op a pretty safe time frame?

I'm only 19 days out but I use the treadmill. I had open RNY so I'm still sore and not fully healed so I can't use the weights :-(

Let your body tell you . I didnt begin work outs until.4 months out due to back pain. Now I am doing it, but you can start whenever you feel up to it
