Brand new here!

I'm typing this from my cell, so bear with me if I miss any typos!

I haven't been given a surgery date yet since I'm still getting all of the preoperative requirements done. I've had a pulmonary test, stress test, today is my 2nd visit with my surgeon, and on Valentine's Day I have my psych eval.

I was wondering about how long, on average, it takes to get everything done and get an actual date. My step daughter graduates high school next summer and it will require a plane ride. I want to make sure I will be in good enough shape to go...it would completely crush me if I couldn't see her walk across that stage!

Thanks!

Jen

From my first visit with the surgeon to my surgery date was 4 months. That is a lot faster than some. I am taking a trip 3 months after my surgery and my surgeon said I will be fine to go.

HI and WELCOME! You have come to a great place for support, help and research.

My process started in July of 2012 and I had surgery 11-19-12. Like gra5u5, mine was faster then most. But at the two month mark, I did two back to back trips where I drove for 4 1/2 hours each way. I was beat but I was fine.

Good luck to you!

Awesome! Thanks for the info y'all. I just got out of my appt with my surgeon and she said if all goes well with my insurance, I should have a tentative surgery date for March or April! Something tells me my insurance will put a wrench in the works at the last minute...nothing like this is THAT simple. We just switched from Cigna to United Healthcare.

Oh, and all I have left to do (i think) is the psych eval & the nutritionist.
