what made you decide?

What made you decide to get roux en y over the band or sleeve? I was going to go with the band but after going to the.information seminar I think I've decided to go with the bypass because of the better results.

I only want to go through this once. It seems the alternatives have a higher chance of complications or failure. I would like to lose 150-200 lbs and bypass seemed like my best option.

I went with the band first and lost maybe 10 pounds I knew I should of went with bypass after my second seminar with my current bypass doctor, the band I think isn't worth the time by personal experience.

The surgeon I used was not very positive about the band. He does all three surgeries. I wanted to go with the sleeve. But after hearing I was a grazer he didnt think that was a very good option for me. I went with the bypass on his recommendation and alot of additional research. Best decison I ever made!!!!

I was going to go with the band then the sleeve and ultimately went with RNY. I learned alot at the seminar and did not like the long term statistics with the band. Too many revisions and slips that cause major scar tissue and can ruin any chance for further WLS. Plus I didn't want to have to have two surgeries if the first didn't work. The sleeve is too new and my surgeon's only concern with them is they have seen leakages as far as two years out. I didn't like that statistic either. It was also decided with some of my other comorbidities it would be best to have RNY so I could reap the benefit of what the RNY does...

I wanted to get the sleeve but could not because of gerd. My surgeon thought rny would be the most effective for me.

I initially went in with my heart set on the sleeve. In fact, I even told DH on the morning of the consultation that if the surgeon didn't agree with the sleeve, I would just walk away from the surgery. But the surgeon made good points and told me he really felt I would have a higher success rate with bypass.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
