Newbie

Hi all, I'm new here and already have gained tons of information you guys are great. I just got my surgery date 2/26/13. My doctor requires a ten lb weight loss before surgery so as to reduce the fat in the liver. I didn't that in a month, three months ago. Problem is I hurt my shoulder and ended up with a torn rotor cuff and torn bicep. Had surgery 1 1/2 months ago to repair. During that time I gained the ten lbs back. Now he made me promise to lose ten lbs before surgery on the 26th. He wasn't going to schedule me because of it and I pretty pleased him to death so he gave in. I am hoping I can keep that promise.

Hi AliG, and welcome. I am required to lose 15 pounds before my surgery. I have lost ten already. I did it by cutting out red meat, cutting WAY down on sugar, no fast food, and nothing fried. I also recommend starting your protein shakes now because they make you feel full super fast.

Shawna29, thank you for the advice that is all that I am doing. The Rex meat isn't a problem for me since I have been a vegetarian for a long time.

I had actually gotten from 320 to present 286 in the last six months. Problem was my injury and surgery caused me to be in bed too much and stop activities. Thank you and good luck on your journey.

Hi Ali... welcome to the boards. Good Luck ... You can do this!!!
