Yay! That's exactly how my day went too! Down 22lbs and got the staples out!!! I'm eating mashed potatoes with cheese mmmm feels great right? Congrats

ask your doc what he thinks about you eating mash potatoes and cheese not sure they will be very happy with that choice, unless its sweet potatoe but either way there is dumping something that should not happen

I don't see how you folks eat anything without being terrified of dumping. I'm afraid to eat anything... Anything! (Can't for another week anyways) like cheese and mashed potatoes... I'm thinking "OMG I'll dump and diiiiie!!!!!!!"

had my pre op with Roller today, and yes he does drill that dumping is bad. and so is mash potatoes.

I don't find it simple at all. For example, I'm not to ingest anything with 5g or more (per serving) of fat or sugar. Yet I'm allowed to mix my shakes with 1% milk.... Which has 11g of sugar per serving.

The rule for me is no more than 15g of sugar per meal.

When u think about the fact that it the beginning u will only be able to eat 1-2 ozs per meal even if you have a food item that has 9 grams of sugar per serving you will not be ingesting the entire 9 grams because you're not eating the serving size as listed on the label. I'm almost 3 weeks post op & will have been on puréed food for 2 weeks tomorrow. I just try to introduce 1 new food per day so if I do happen to dump I can pinpoint exactly what made it happen. You have to eat so just stick to things low on fat, sugar & carbs & u will be fine.

Anyone have tips on passing gas? Lol. I'm now on day 2 and haven't been able to pass gas. It wants to come out I just can't seem to get it out. I've been walking and drinking a fair amount. I've also attempted to lay on my side' date=' nothing.[/quote']

I didn't start to pass gas until about day 4.

I am almost 9 days post op. I ate some egg drop soup tonight. So far so good but I'm just nervous! At least it has protein. haha :) Did you guys cheat at all in the first 2 weeks after surgery. I have not had any complications at all and have felt minimal pain the whole time. Thoughts?

milk is natural sugar most of the dumping problems come from processed sugars... which is why we can eat fruit.

Gosh I want to cheat soooo bad, but I'm terrified my pouch will leak or something and I'll have major complications. I'm 8 days post op

Good to know cog burn, because I was wondering about fruit too

My surgeon gave me the OK for egg drop soup because of the protein so don't stress it lol

Thanks! I have not been getting in any other protein at all because i hate the sweet crap. I ordered the unjury stuff it should be here soon! :)

I think Im going to dry mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes....my doc said mashed potatoes are ok in small amounts. Everyone is different....what someone may dump with, someone else wont.
