Picture of me when I went to my first doctor appt for a referral for surgery
  2. I also went sugar free already...
  3. I am following the diet my dietician at the bariatric clinic set for me. Protein first 60-80grams a day, drink water, water, water...64 oz day....no carbonated drinks. I take in anywhere from 50-75 carbs a day, track my food, started walking (obtained a stress fracture in my foot the first week of walking which set me back), go to all the support groups twice a month, and staying focused. I use the myfitnesspal app to track my food diary.
  4. Sometimes sorbital in fruits can and will upset your stomach, my dietician said no veggies or fruits during this pre op diet.. My first week I was on my high protein diet, my body was going through withdrawls (stomach pains), but then it subsided.
  5. When I first went to my appointment to get referred out to the surgical clinic my BMI was 51 and now its 48. I have 5 months until I have surgery but they usually go by your first weigh in weight. Thats what they told me. They want me to loose 50 more lbs as a goal before surgery to get my BMI to 40 at surgery. The closer your BMI is to 40, the easier the surgery will be on your body. Just to give you an idea I have lost almost 30lbs to get down 4 points on my BMI. I doubt I will even be close to a 40 BMI even if I reach the goal of 50lbs.
  6. It will be the 1st or 2nd week...there has to be 2 surgeons in the surgery room during my surgery since my BMI is greater than 40. So it basically is going to be when they both have a time slot open.
  7. So I have less than 6 months left before surgery. My personal goal between now and then is to stick to my 80 gram protein diet with exercise to get under a 40 BMI (50 lbs) so recovery will be easier on my body. I finally found the perfect protein shake that I love and it has 20 grams of protein per serving. It is a daily battle but it is worth it!!!
