Pre-Op Laxative

I am currently on day 4 of my week long liquid fast before surgery. My doctor has said nothing about a pre-op laxative. has anyone else not had to do a cleanse before surgery?

My surgeon didn't require it only to lose weight before the surgery. I wasn't even required a liquid diet before hand. When I asked about it in the office the PA told me she was trying to work on that

I did not but was on full liquid for two weeks and then clear for the day before surgery and believe me no laxative needed, lol!

LOL I can't imagine a laxative would be needed but it seems like so many people cleanse before surgery. My surgery is Wednesday, I am going to call the doctor's office on Monday to double check.

Maggie, my dr requires the day before surgery be a "clean out" day. Lol. I decided to take that day off work ;)

My surgeon didn't require it only to lose weight before the surgery. I wasn't even required a liquid diet before hand. When I asked about it in the office the PA told me she was trying to work on that with the surgeons so that patients would be on liquid diets before surgery. She felt it helped things be more "clean" for the surgery.

I actually took it upon myself to go on a liquid diet for the 3 days prior. I figured it would be better colon/intestinal wise if I did but, it wasn't required.
