hey I was wondering if anybody out there is doing or has done nutrisystem? How did you like it? Did it work?

Hi there I used nurtrisystem. I had no luck with it. It made me so gassy, and I always felt hungry!

I was on Nutrisystem for most of last year and gained 40 pounds. The portions are very small. After I ate my Nutrisystem meal, I'd still be hungry, so I'd go eat a regular meal, too. I'm planning on going back on Nutrisystem when I'm 4 weeks post-op. With the band, the small portions should work just fine.

If you plan on tyring Nutrisystem, be forewarned that it will take some trial and error to find the meals that you like. Some of their food is very good, and some is disgusting. You get to choose the meals you want. They send you a 28 day supply of food, but you'll still need to supplement your diet with milk and fresh fruits and veggies. Most of their meals have added Protein and Fiber, and the fiber can cause some excess gas. It's nothing too bothersome, though.

I went on NS when I lost my band due to erosion. I lost 6.5 lbs in a month doing the meals. That is without exercising. The thing I find bad about the meals is that they are high in sodium and perservatives. They are tasty meals though. I found that I got hungry between meals so I supplemented with Proten snacks. That satisfied me till the next meal.

I liked the pizzas, lasagnas, peppered beef and rice, chili, chicken soups, veggie soups, beef stews, sloppy joe, all the breakfast with the exception of the powdered eggs, the desserts are good but I found I was usually too full to eat one by then. You do need to supplement with fresh veggies, fresh fruits, and reduced fat milk or soy milk.

THey give you a guideline of meal supplements and what you should eat at each meal and snack.

A month's worth of food typically costs $250. So that is something to keep in mind. That isn't including the supplements you have to buy. That $250 just covers the NS meals.

Can you tell me the meals that oyu liked the best?

For breakfast, I love their Lowfat Granola Cereal and their NutriFlakes Bran Cereal.

For lunch I like:

Ham and Bean Soup

chicken and Pasta in Cacciatore Sauce

Chicken salad

Fettuccini Alfredo

Sliced Ham

Spicy Oriental Noodles with Vegetables

Whipped Sweet Potatoes with cheese

and for dinner:

Basil Chicken Breast with Tomato Sauce

Chicken Pasta Parmesan

Chicken Primavera with Pasta

macaroni and Cheese with Beef

Stroganoof Sauce with Beef and Noodles

Tender Beef with Vegetables

3 Cheese Pasta with Chicken

and for Snacks, I like their biscotti, cheese curls, honey mustard pretzels, and white cheddar soy chips.

I think all of their meals that are supposed to be sweet, like the desserts or some of the breakfast muffins, are absolutely disgusting. They use some sort of artificial sweetner that actually tastes like salt to me. Their chocolate fudge cake was so awful that I gave several packages away to friends just to get rid of them. None of my friends liked it either.

I had hundred's and hundred's on dollars worth of food that I gave away in August. I had absolutely no luck with it. The food was horrid. I'll take the band anytime over NS. They have forums on they're just like here and it's free to join.

I understand all of your points but as far as small portions, they probably be good for a restricted bandster right? `ALSO AS FAR AS THE BAND GOES -SINCE ITS JUST A TOOL WONT I HAVE TO GO ON A DIET AFTER BEING BANDED?

I think most of us have tried Jenny Craig and Nutisystem and whatever diets there are but this band thing is suppose to be a life style change not a quick fit. Good food in small portions. You own motivation. I had to talk to myself about this issue. I was going to go to Jenny Craig but talked my way out of it. Glad I did. Good luck.
