Weight Loss Pre-Op

How much weight have you lost pre-op? It seems to me that because most of us have to go on a liquid diet, we all lose, and some of us HAVE to lose to get the surgery. But I'm curious, what's the most anyone has lost during pre-op alone?

I just did 3 days of pre-op and already lost 10 lbs. Caught me by surprise since I'm not one to lose easily, though I know this was probably some Water weight or something...

  • I lost 19 pounds in two weeks doing low carb and then liquids for the last two days before surgery- I was also shocked! BUT, I had really good motivation to stay focused on my diet and I didn't cheat

  • I know exactly what you mean! I haven't cheated either but I'm surprised because I didn't think I'd be able to get past day 2!

I lost 19 pounds in two weeks doing low carb and then liquids for the last two days before surgery- I was also shocked! BUT, I had really good motivation to stay focused on my diet and I didn't cheat at all. I wanted my liver to be as small as possible to give myself the best shot at no surgical complications. Previously, when I had done low carb (or any other diet) it was a miracle for me to go three days without cheating on my diet.

I've lost 5 lbs in 4 days. I'm thinking it's just water. It has motivated me to stay on track!!!

I need to lose 20 by November 26th and I've lost 15 so far. Took me 3 almost 4 months.

I lost 44 pounds in almost 4 months pre-op. But in the 1 month & 1 day since surgery I've only lost 11.2 pounds & none in the last week. I keep hoping that since I've finally moved on from clear liquids to puree (4 days ago) I'll start losing again.

I only lost 8 lbs in two weeks of liquids. Freaked me out because I was sure I wouldn't lose anything post op either. And of course all around me were people losing 15-20 lbs so I worried even more.

Yeah shouldn't have :)

I lost a total of 45 pounds from the time I started the whole process 10 of that during the 2 week pre-op diet. I thought I would have lost more during that time, but nope.

Peggy I am just very sure you are going to be one of those that will come out of this stall with all guns blazing. You're doing what you should and are being thoughtful about all of it. It will work. Just in its own time. Hang in there. I will be careful not to say "I told you so!" When you start losing again :) (((hugs)))
