i have to because of where I work. We have to wear a mask and sign a paper if we decline the flu shot.

I have I get one too for work. I haven't yet though. Would there be a reason not to just because of surgery?

I would. I got mine in the hospital. But it's much easier to get it taken care if beforehand. Trust me, flu on top of recovery is NOT fun.

no, more reason to get one before. being in the hospital during flu season is high risk.

My hospital required proof of a current flu shot before they would operate.

Are those of you with up coming surgeries getting the flu shot beforehand?

I didn't get one before surgery but before they discharged me, they gave me both a flu and a pneumonia shot.

I caught an upper respiratory bug in the hospital and it really slowed my recovery. I would do anything possible to ward off a viral infection before having surgery!
