Pain across chest

Is it normal to have a shot of pain across the chest when I take a drink. It hurts pretty bad. I get a little flash of hot then burp and it goes away. I'm two days out and they repaired a hianel hernia. Is this the norm?

I would say this is probably due to the Hernia repair. I had a pain in my chest for a few months. It'll subside. However, it if does become bothersome, do call your doctor hun!

Oh also, be sure to sip slowly (not gulp) and to take itty bitty bites once you do begin to eat. ;) it'll help.

Thanks

I am 3 days post op and having the same thing happen. I always sip. It doesn't happen every time but often enough and I always have to burp afterwards. I did not have hernia repair.

I get a little pain when I drink too - then I burp and I'm fine. It's odd. Broth has been the easiest thing for me to drink so far.
