flex spending & rx protien shakes

Hi, wondering if anyone knows if the prescribed protein shakes, such as new direction, can be purchased using your flex card?

One pharmacy said yes, but when I went to pick them up, another pharm tech said no.

    See IRS publication 502. I believe they do not qualify because they replace the food you would normally consume,
