  1. Kasey-have you had any dietician visits during months when you did not see the doctor? My doc co-signed the dietician notes when I had missed a monthly dr visit. Just a thought!! Good luck!

  5. Re: PICC line--I've had one before...they were finished before I knew they had started! Didn't feel a thing!

  7. Hi Tina--my preop diet consists of: 60 gr of protein thru protein drinks, clear liquids (tea, coffee, crystal light, clear broth), sugar free jello and sugar free Popsicles.
  8. Tentatively set for August 21; still waiting final insurance approval. Get to start 2week liquids on Wednesday!!
  9. Hello from Cape Girardeau! I'm hoping for a late July or early August date. This will be the second try... The first surgery was aborted due to an enlarged liver. I'm hoping for better luck this time!
  10. Would like to hear from anyone who had an "open" surgery. My first procedure was aborted due to an enlarged liver. I have emailed the program coordinator to ask about an open surgery. I still have 30 lbs to lose to get to the weight they want me at for the second attempt!!
  11. Thanks all! The doc wants me to lose more weight, about 35 lbs. That would put me right about 300, with a BMI of 50. At that stage he feels the procedure should be a go! I'm having some good weeks, some not so good as fabr as weight lose goes! Hopefully by early June we can do the procedure!
  12. Yes I was on liquids for two weeks. Other than a couple bowls of soup during that time, I followed the plan.
  13. Well, today was supposed to be the day. They had to abort the surgery due to an enlarged liver. The doc was unable to safely do the procedure. I am very disappointed, but I know it was for my safety. I'm sore, but am cleared to resume normal activities. I meet with the doc next week to discuss options. He feels that is I lose some more weight, he should be able to do the surgery around June.
  14. I'm surprisingly calm! I have to be at the hospital at 11:30am, with surgery at 1:00 pm. Prayers for everyone scheduled in he next few days!

  16. Yep I started liquids on the 12th. It's getting better each day! The first few days were rough! I have a pre-op appointment with the coordinator tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what info I get then!
