I've known a couple people who had gastric bypass and had a lot of Hair loss post op. I'm really hoping that this is just because they were being non compliment or something. Has anyone else known this to happen and does it happen to everyone?

If you go to the forum home page and search Hair loss you'll see many threads on the subject which will give you any idea of what people have dealt with. Short answer- seems more people than not deal with some hair loss in varying degrees starting at 3 months out. I'm not quite there yet but do anticipate it. I shoot for 90g of Protein a day and know it helps my nails so will see about the hair:)

Thanks for the tip! I'm new to the forum and wasn't sure exactly where to post this question. :)

I'm at a little over 4 months out and haven't seen any Hair loss yet (knock on wood). I have been careful to get required Protein down and taking my bariatric Vitamins. Or maybe I'm just lucky.....

I'm 3 1/2 months out and haven't lost hair yet. I always get 60-80 grams of Protein daily. The medical term for this kind of Hair loss is Telogen Effluvium. It seems more people experience this than not.

I have lost 80 lbs and I didn't lose hair. I eat a lot of Protein and take my Biotin religiously. But everyone is different.

Thanks everyone. I just want to know what to expect. I will deal with any obstacle I face on this journey. I'm going to do everything in my power to follow the doctors guidelines. If I do this obstacles should be few.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
