How much weight have you before surgery or pre-op liquid diet?

I am just wondering if anyone lost weight before their first contact with the surgeon? I have been exercising a LOT more than ever and following the dietician plan really closely.

Do you know if your insurance requires a percentage of weight loss before they'll authorize the surgery? If yes, be careful of the timing - it can be a Catch 22 if you lose weight before your initial appointments.

Yes I lost. My highest weight was 360 pounds. I scheduled surgery at 335 pounds and was sleeved at 290 pounds. For me losing weight prior to surgery had two benefits. First it put me at lower risk during surgery and second it helped me get my surgery for less money since there was an additional "high BMI" fee of I think $750.00..so that's $750.00 more I have to put toward plastics!

No my insurance does not have any percentages. I just have to have a certain bmi to qualify I think. I will check into that. Serendipity, you really lost a lot before hand wow!

I am supposed to lose 10% in my 12 week Options class (Kaiser). I have 3 weeks left and have lost 17 of the 24 lbs recommended.
